商务英语应当是在深厚的英语基础上，再强调商务。戴尔把中国人的英语学习分为“背诵阶段”和“习惯阶段”，目前绝大多数学习者处在背诵阶段，还没有达到习惯阶段，无法实现“习惯性而非背诵性地运用英语进行交流”。这里所说的“习惯”，并不是说，你掌握了多少的词汇量，而是你能否做到脱口而出。在具备了这样的“习惯”以后，就可以通过商务英语的学习，就可以用专业的商务语言进行商务工作了。
